Meet Australian WWE superstar Billie Kay who is taking over the wrestling world – as she reveals her connection to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson

She’s the Australian wrestling superstar who made history last year when she was crowned the WWE Women’s Tag Team champion with Peyton Royce.

And on Tuesday, Billie Kay spoke candidly about her journey to stardom.

The 31-year-old sports entertainer told Nine she was proud to have accomplished her ambitious ‘five-year plan’ ahead of schedule.

‘It was overwhelming but in the best way. I felt so accomplished it was great,’ she said.

In January, Billie announced all the things she hope to achieve over the next five years – but it turns out she didn’t need that long to accomplish her goals.

Her list included making her debut on WWE shows Raw and Smackdown, winning a WWE championship, and releasing her own T-shirt range.

To her surprise, she was even to accomplish her goal of being made into an action figure.

The icing on the cake was getting to meet her childhood hero, WWE legend-turned-Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Speaking about their unlikely friendship, Billie said: ‘We are friends, we’re mates.’

Billie added: ‘I’m fortunate enough to have him in my life as a friend which is absolutely absurd and very surreal, but hey I’ll take it.’

‘I was shaking, I couldn’t sit still, I was pacing. As soon as we made eye contact, I started crying. We hugged, it was amazing,’ she recalled of their first meeting.

It’s been a busy few years for Kay, who made wrestling history in April last year alongside her school friend Peyton Royce when the pair became the first female Australian tag team to reach the top of WWE.
