And while this isn’t new information – Emelia has been the favourite for weeks – comparing the latest odds with earlier figures offers further evidence that the cake specialist will indeed take the crown during the finale later this month.
Back in June, both Sportsbet and TAB were predicting that fan favourite Poh Ling Yeow was unlikely to make it to the final five.

Her departure leaves Reynold Poernomo, Callum Hann, Reece Hignell, Laura Sharrad and Emelia in the competition.
The fact that the bookies were right about Poh’s departure – bearing in mind many fans had expected the franchise veteran would make it to the end – suggests they will also be proved correct about Emelia being the eventual winner.

It comes after Daily Mail Australia reported on June 22 that every major bookmaker was tipping Emelia to take the crown, suggesting some degree of insider knowledge.
MasterChef is filmed in advance and there are plenty of people – including the cast, crew and publicists – who know the outcome.
It’s possible one of these insiders leaked the result, causing a surge in online bets that resulted in Emelia’s odds being slashed significantly.

Alternatively, somebody close to production may have let slip the ending to a friend, partner or family member, who in turn spread the news.
According to Sportsbet, as of Tuesday Emilia is the clear favourite with odds of $1.39. Laura Sharrad is tipped for runner-up ($3.50) and Reynold Poernomo is expected to place third ($5).
TAB odds differ slightly: Emilia is the front-runner at $1.20, Laura is tipped for second place ($4.50) and ‘dessert king’ Reynold third ($7).
