Mariah Carey models an all-back ensemble and sky-high stilettos with matching mask

Mariah Carey opted for simplicity on Monday when she stepped out of her building in New York City in a youthful all-black ensemble.

The 50-year-old diva was ushered into a car as she started her post–Fourth of July week.

The mother-of-two looked as if she might be ready for some exercise thanks to her small black zip-up hoodie and her figure-hugging black leggings, but her high heels made it appear as if she was heading to a meeting.

Mariah elevated her 5ft8in height with a pair of black open-toe stilettos, and she accessorized with a black alligator print handbag.

The Always Be My Baby singer kept her curly golden brown locks tied up in a high, messy bun.

She was careful to wear a black mask to help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The singer recently expressed some serious fears about contracting COVID-19 due to its potentially devastating impact on her singing career.

In legal documents obtained by The Blast, Mariah claimed that she is unable to sit for a deposition in the legal battle with her former assistant Lianna Shakhnazaryan because doing so would put her at an increased risk of contracting COVID-19.

The filing states that the disease ‘presents risks to all people, including lung damage, heart damage, organ failure, and death.’

‘Unique to Mariah, however, is the potential career-ending impact of any lung damage,’ it continues.

The Fantasy singer also shot down the idea of doing a remote deposition because she would require multiple people to help her set it up, also putting her at risk.

She has been suing Lianna for allegedly trying to extort her for $8million with ‘intimate’ videos she filmed without her permission.

She is seeking $5million from the ex-assistant.

In recent weeks, Mariah has been vocal on social media in her condemnation of systemic racism and police brutality and her support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Last month, she tweeted out a photo of her fraternal twins Moroccan and Monroe, both nine, as they joined a video chat hookup for their outdoor Juneteenth BBQ, high above the streets of New York City.

The holiday, which is celebrated on June 19, marks the date in 1865 that Union soldiers informed slaves in Texas that they had been freed by Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

The proclamation was written in 1862, and the war was ended in May 1865, but Black people were still enslaved in the deepest parts of the South.

Though it was originally a regional holiday in Texas, Juneteenth has begun to be accepted as a national celebration of the end of American slavery.

Mariah also posted messages honoring the memories of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, whose deaths at the hands of police galvanized protests across the nation.

Floyd was killed in May when a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into his neck for nearly nine minutes, including almost three minutes beyond when he stopped breathing and became unresponsive.

Taylor was shot eight times and killed when police executed a no-knock warrant on her home, despite the intended subject not living there and already being in police custody at the time of the raid.
