‘Any team wants to come out of the gate being absolutely healthy, and so the four months hiatus has provided the opportunity to do that,’ Gerrit said. ‘We liked our chances in February not coming out of the gate 100 percent healthy. So I got to say that we really like our chances coming out of the gate 100 percent healthy, hopefully as we get through summer training.

‘But, yeah, we’re bullish on it. Sixty games, 162 games, when it comes down to it players just want to compete and get after it,’ he said. ‘It’s going to be a different season. We’re used to playing really about three times the amount of games.’

Gerrit married former UCLA softball player Amy Crawford in 2016 and they announced on January 1, 2020 on social media that they were expecting a baby boy together.
