There will be a nationwide clap of appreciation this evening at 5pm and a WWII Spitfire with ‘Thank U NHS’ painted on its underside will fly over hospitals across the country.

The nation will clap to show its thanks for the service, in what is hoped will become a yearly tradition.

On Thursday, the mother of four uploaded an image of portraits of NHS workers captured by Rankin, she wrote: ‘This weekend marks the 72nd anniversary of @nhsengland and this Sunday.

Back in April she FaceTimed nurses who were working at King’s Hospital in London with Harper.

And she did the same again just a week later  as she admitted she felt ‘humbled’ by their efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

And she shared snippets of their conversation with her 28.2 million fans on Instagram, and urged them to listen to the advice given by the NHS staff.

She penned alongside the videos: ‘Yesterday I had the humbling opportunity to speak to 2 NHS teams in different parts of the UK.

‘I have posted parts of the conversation on IGTV. Please have a look and listen to what they are saying.

‘They are so inspiring and we all need to do our part in staying home and helping these incredible workers and their colleagues on the frontline x VB.’

During their conversation, the doctors and nurses urged viewers to stay safe at home while they took care of patients in hospital.

The Beckhams led the stars in the nationwide 8pm applause for the NHS and key workers that happened every Thursday at the beginning of lockdown.

Victoria took to Instagram to share a video of husband David, 44, sons Romeo, 17, and Cruz, 15, and their daughter Harper clapping outside their home.

She wrote atop of the video: ‘In isolation, someone has to be cameraman. Thank you as every week to our NHS and all the frontline workers continuing to fight for all of us. We are so grateful xx’.
