Instagram is trialling a ‘See All Stories’ button that would fill the entire screen with temporary posts from contacts
- Stories are regularly used by around half of Instagram’s one billion users
- The company has been trialling a ‘See All Stories’ button for around one month
- Expands the current carousel and puts more Stories front and centre in the app
Instagram is trialling a new layout which would put Stories front and centre in the app’s home screen.
Reports claim the social media site is working on a ‘See All Stories’ button which would allow a user to view more ephemeral posts at once in a grid format.
Currently, Stories feature at the top of the home screen on a carousel and users must scroll across to view the vast array of temporary posts from people they follow.
As well as allowing users to expand the carousel, the minimised bar at the top of the home screen has been increased from one row to two.
The expanded feature is currently being trialled and it is unknown if it will be rolled out to the masses at any point in the future.

The ‘See All Stories’ button will appear below this carousel and expand the window.
It was first revealed by California-based social media manager Julian Gamboa who posted screenshots online.
MailOnline asked Instagram if it was working on the feature, and a spokesperson simply responded with ‘we’re always testing new ways to improve the Instagram experience for our community’.

No further details have been revealed, but TechCrunch reports that the feature has been trialled for a month.
Stories are a huge asset for Instagram, with half of the site’s one billion users regularly interacted with Instagram Stories.
After the feature was shamelessly copied from Snapchat, the Facebook-owned site has dominated the market.
At the end of 2019, around four million advertisers were using Instagram Stories to reach consumers.
However, despite the deluge of Instagram Stories adverts, they are less successful at making money than adverts in the news feed, Facebook reveals.
But the tech giant expects this to change as more companies migrate to the short-term format and away from static posts.
