Today show host Karl Stefanovic earns almost $2 million a year and is married to a successful shoe designer, Jasmine Yarbrough.
And that makes his latest fashion misstep all the more confusing.
The 45-year-old was spotted wearing what appeared to be counterfeit Yeezy sneakers while taking a stroll with Jasmine in Byron Bay on Wednesday.

Yeezy is a collaboration between German sportswear brand Adidas and American rapper and designer Kanye West.
However, as any sneaker aficionado will tell you, Adidas has never created a dual-colour lace for Yeezy shoes.
So while Karl’s vibrant green and orange laces may look cool, they are not Kanye-approved.

Secondly, the side panel of the shoe features a style of writing made famous by shoe designer Virgil Abloh, and which is associated with his Nike Collaborations.
Due to his contract with Nike, it is understood that Virgil cannot work with Adidas and therefore his writing on these Yeezys suggests they are fake.
The cross pattern made famous by streetwear brand Off-White also features on Karl’s sneakers – but this would be the first time it has ever featured on a Yeezy design.
Lastly, Kanye has never allowed the word ‘Yeezy’ to be featured on his shoe. Instead, the word SPLY-350 is knitted on the fabric.

Of course, Karl wouldn’t be the first person to buy fake Yeezys.
According to the BBC, they are actually one of the most common counterfeit luxury items on the market.
Several pairs of shoes similar to the ones Karl was wearing are available online from a number of unauthorized outlets.

Fashion faux pas aside, Karl seemed to enjoyed his relaxed morning with his wife, Jasmine, and their baby daughter, Harper.
The following day, on Thursday, the Channel Nine star shared a sweet photo of Jasmine and their newborn to Instagram.
‘Two girls and a pub. Happy as Larry,’ he wrote in the caption.
