Peter Andre recalls his fear after wife Emily contracted coronavirus and Junior showed symptoms

Peter Andre has revealed how the family struggled to cope when wife Emily contracted coronavirus, calling it a ‘really scary’ time.

Emily, 30, had been working as doctor on the NHS frontline when she caught the virus at the beginning of the pandemic, and had to isolate on the top floor as they kept the news secret from the children.

Making matters worse, Peter’s son Junior, 15, also displayed symptoms of the virus, but they are now ‘pretty certain’ that he just had a cold.

The couple were locked down at their home in Surrey with daughter Amelia, six, and son Theodore, three, whilst son Junior, and daughter Princess, 13, split their time between their mother Katie Price’s abode.

Recalling the ordeal in his new! magazine column, Peter, 47, revealed that Emily’s symptoms included losing her taste of sense and smell and feeling achy, saying: ‘It was a really scary time and also hard because I had six people in the house to look after.’

Explaining that Emily and Junior had to isolate themselves on the top floor of their home, he confessed: ‘We made out that Ems was at work during the day. It was so difficult when Theo and Mills were like “Why can’t I go with mum?”

‘The reason Emily kept it quiet was because she wasn’t 100 percent certain it was coronavirus and she didn’t want to make a fuss until testing was available and she knew for sure’.

While Emily has now had an antibodies test that proves she did in fact have the virus, the pair are ‘pretty certain’ Junior didn’t have it as he presented cold like symptoms prior to having a temperature, although he has not been tested.

Earlier this week, Emily revealed she has tested positive for coronavirus, but says that does not mean she now has immunity.

Speaking to OK!, she said she had suspected she had caught the disease and had protected her family by quarantining herself away.

She said: ‘We don’t know how long immunity lasts or if you can catch the virus again. It’s easy to be blase as a healthy 30-year-old, but i was lucky I didn’t get more unwell with it.’

Emily said it was tough to be forced apart from her family for ten days, but of course safety came first.

She said: ‘I was only able to wave at them from the top of the stairs. Myself and Pete also slept in separate bedrooms just to be on the safe side.

‘It was horrible but the family adapted to it really well and I got a big hug at the end. I had a sore throat and lost my sense of smell and taste for a week.’

Emily and Peter are parents to Amelia, six, and Theo, three. Pete is also father to Junior, 15 and Princess, 13, from his marriage to Katie Price, 42.

Peter and Emily have already revealed that they are planning on expanding their family.

They discussed their family plans with The Sun Online ahead of their online reality show Life With The Andres.

Peter told how he’s always wanted more children but Emily had been uncertain, but then she suddenly dropped the bombshell that she now wants two more kids.

He said: ‘Here I was trying to get my head around the thought of having one more child but then Emily throws a bombshell on me of having two more children.

The TV personality added: ‘So now I’m really confused about what she wants. Before it was a definite no no, but now there’s a big possibility.’

The singer previously admitted that this year would be the last he would try for a baby as he approaches the big 5-0.
