Turing his attention to the Uber app, he told Olly: ‘I’ve never used it before, is any good? Did you have a nice journey?’

Michael then rated Olly’s last Uber journey, before booking a trip while live on stage, telling the singer: ‘I accepted the higher fare,’ with London’s Heaven nightclub as the destination.

After his first attempt didn’t work, the comedian tried to book a trip to Basildon. Much to Olly’s surprise, an Uber driver strolled onto the stage in front of the studio audience.

The singer was visibly uncomfortable, but unfazed, Michael asked the Uber driver: ‘So, listen, do you like music?

‘If I was to sing, “Dear Darlin, please excuse my writing, I can’t stop my hands from shaking” – does that ring any bells with you?’

After a short pause, the taxi driver hesitantly admitted: ‘No,’ leaving Olly with his head in his hands while dealing the public embarrassment.

However a source from the show told the Sun that the issue has nothing to do with their digital team, and they would be happy to help Olly out.

They said: ‘It has nothing to do with the digital team. Of course, if Olly got in touch with the show that’s something they’d help with.’

He presented the 2015 series with Caroline Flack before they were replaced with longtime host Dermot O’Leary, who returned to the show the following year.

Olly recently revealed to The Sun’s TV Magazine that he is asked to take part as a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing every year.

He explained it is a case of ‘never say never’, because he believes that being taught the art of ballroom by a Strictly professional would be an ‘amazing’ experience.

However it might be a struggle for the hitmaker to find the time any time soon, as his hectic work schedule meant he had to turn down an offer to rejoin the X Factor.
