Tom Cruise lands a helicopter in London as he prepares for Mission Impossible 7 filming to resume

He was reportedly relaxing at the famous Saint Hill Manor in West Sussex during the coronavirus lockdown.

But, Tom Cruise looked focused and ready for action as he landed a helicopter at a London helipad on Thursday, ahead of resuming production on Mission Impossible 7 at an old army base.

The actor, 57, wore a face-mask, large headphones and shielded his eyes with a classic pair of aviator sunglasses.

Tom opted for a muted ensemble, wearing indigo jeans and a plain black T-shirt as he stepped out of the helicopter having ditched his headset for a baseball cap.

Strolling along in smart black shoes, the Jerry Maguire star carried his belongings in a backpack draped over his shoulder.

Filming on the blockbuster was due to begin in February in Venice, Italy but was halted due to the spread of Covid-19.

Production has been relocated to England where it will resume in September, with the seventh instalment in the franchise due for release on November 19, 2021.

It comes after the news that Tom was believed to be on the lookout for a new home close to the Saint Hill Manor, after staying there during the pandemic.

Tom was in Britain when filming on Mission Impossible 7 was suspended earlier this year, and is thought to no longer consider Los Angeles his home after selling his Beverly Hills property in 2016.

Sources told the Sunday Mirror that since filming will be resuming soon, Tom is looking into buying a home in Britain.

He was staying at the 18th century mansion was originally bought by the Church Of Scientology’s founder, L Ron Hubbard, in 1959.

A source said: ‘Tom is active more than ever in the organisation. His role is getting bigger and bigger.

‘He wants to move to the UK permanently and has been looking at properties around Saint Hill Manor so he can be on hand and close by.’

During his time at the manor Tom Cruise has reportedly been hosting Zoom meetings and organising gatherings with fellow members.

Saint Hill Manor recently underwent a £13 million renovation, and boasts a restaurant run by a chef that used to work at Gordon Ramsay’s Royal Hospital Road in West London.

Tom also reportedly schedules his visits to coincide with those of his close friend, the church’s leader David Miscavige.

The star is thought to have invited his family to stay at the manor’s accommodation during Christmas and New Year, as the property is close to the South London home of his daughter Isabella, 27.

MailOnline contacted representatives for Tom Cruise for comment at the time.

Tom first became involved in the Church Of Scientology in the early 1990s through his first wife Mimi Rogers, and has since been one of the religion’s most outspoken advocates.

Scientologists believe that humans are immortal beings with an infinite number of past lives, some of which could be in extraterrestrial cultures.

The Church also rejects psychiatry, believing they interfere with the rational mind, for which Tom sparked earned backlash in 2004 when he refuted the use of psychiatric drugs to treat post-natal depression.

Members of the church are also thought to be huge supporters of Tom’s film career and his box office success, thought it’s thought his faith caused rifts in his marriages to actresses Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes.

Other big stars who are members include John Travolta and Elisabeth Moss.
