Two escape with their lives after helicopter crashes into field next to pub and bursts into flames

  • Pilot and passenger crashed into a filed next to the Mason Arms in Warwickshire
  • Incredibly both managed to get out of the chopper and to safety
  • Seconds later the helicopter exploded in flames destroying everything inside 

A helicopter pilot and passenger had a lucky escape after their aircraft crash-landed in a field next to a pub before bursting into flames.

Emergency services were called at around 12.20pm to reports the chopper had made an emergency landing outside the Masons Arms, in Long Martson, Warks.

Paramedics and fire crews rushed to the scene when the aircraft caught fire shortly after the pilot and passengers had managed to make it to safety.

They were amazed to find passenger and pilot safe and well after they escaped safely

West Midlands Ambulance Service said one ambulance, a senior paramedic officer and four paramedic officers attended and found the helicopter fully ablaze.

A spokeswoman for the service said: ‘On arrival, crews discovered the helicopter well ablaze.

‘There were two patients at the scene, who had managed to get out of the helicopter safely. 

‘Thankfully, they were uninjured in the incident and able to be discharged at the scene.’

Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service said on Facebook: ‘The crew from Alcester, along with crews from Stratford fire station and Pebworth fire station are currently in attendance at a helicopter crash in Long Marston.

‘The pilot and one passenger made it to safety before the aircraft caught fire.

‘The crews used breathing apparatus and hose reels to extinguish the fire along with foam.’

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson added that officers responded to a report of a helicopter making an emergency landing.

He added: ‘Fortunately the two people on board got out safely and were uninjured.

‘They were checked at the scene by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.’
