Joan added: ‘It’s very sad I think, very sad in Harrods, it’s just not the same.

‘People are just not going to queue up for hours, people just haven’t got the time. They’re not going to do it.

‘It’s alright if you get there first thing and you’re the first in but people will not queue in mile long queues to get into a shop they buy online… It’s just a sad day today for me.’

Gemma has previously spoken about her mum’s health struggles, and just last year she was hospitalised for pneumonia.

She previously described her mum’s health battle as ‘two years of hell,’ telling The Sun: ‘I always tried to be really strong, so when I was with her I was happy, upbeat, like ”Come on mum, you’re gonna be alright!”

‘Then I’d leave the house, get in my car and cry for hours.

‘I used to ring my friends and say ‘I just don’t know what I can do to help my mum,’ it was the worst thing.’
