Seven hopes that Big Brother will help the network re-emerge as the marker leader in the 25-54 demographic.

For the past three years, the network has been more successful in the 55-plus demographic, which is less desirable from an advertising perspective.

Seven’s chief marketing officer, Charlotte Valente, revealed the first fortnight of Big Brother delivered the network its best result in 10 years in terms of ‘reaching key audiences that we had lost our way with’.

The company is also hoping that upcoming shows Farmer Wants a Wife, Holey Moley and Plate of Origin will bring in a younger audience.

While Ms Valente stated Seven was unlikely to be No. 1 in the 25-54 category this year, she said they were aiming to claim the title in 2021.

Seven’s Programming Director, Angus Ross, also said the network was ‘stoked’ with Big Brother’s performance so far.

‘We have delivered a reinvention of the format for the 2020 television landscape and audiences are loving it,’ he told the Herald Sun.

‘On top of the broadcast success in all key demographics Big Brother is currently the highest streamed show in Australia driving 7plus’s leadership in the category.’
