Dua Lipa ‘survived on supermarket meal deals’ as a struggling singer before huge chart successes

She a multi award-winning artist with estimates of her wealth ranging from £3 million to £16 million.  

But, Dua Lipa, 24, reportedly survived on supermarket meal deals as a struggling singer , before her huge chart successes and subsequent paydays.

The New Rules hitmaker’s experience of being ‘skint in London‘ was detailed by her co-writing partner Chelcee Grimes – who became well known after her short-lived romance with Love Island star Megan Barton Hanson.

Chelcee, who began working together in 2014, three years before Dua’s first self-titled album was released.

The songwriter told the Mirror: ‘Dua is a superstar now but for me she’s not changed one bit.

‘We can’t go to Co-op or Tesco and get a meal deal like we used to, but other than that she’s just the same. 

‘I used to go for the tuna pasta pot – I lived on that the last week of every month for a year. Being skint in London’s not nice,’ admitted Chelcee.

Dua is now sitting on top of the world, with numerous chart hits and a happy relationship with Anwar Hadid, the brother of models Gigi and Bella.

The singer usually spends a lot of quality time with Anwar in New York, and the pair moved in with each other after just two months of dating. 

But during lockdown, the couple have been holed up in ‘a random Airbnb’ in the English capital, after returning home from Australia to find her flat flooded.

The loved-up pair first confirmed their romance at British Summer Time in July last year, after quickly getting together following on from the pop sensation splitting from her former flame Isaac Carew last June. 

Dua and Isaac first started dating back in 2013 and the then-couple were together for nearly four years before their subsequent split in 2017. 

The exes had reconciled January 2018 last year but couldn’t make their romance go the distance.
