Jamie Foxx develops muscular physique for Mike Tyson role

He’s a knockout! Jamie Foxx shows off his newly bulked-up physique… as he talks about transforming into boxing legend Mike Tyson for new biopic

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx is getting into shape as he prepares to play boxing legend Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic.

The project has been in development for years, but now Foxx, 52, looks ready to get into the ring and start filming, as he showed off his newly bulked-up frame on Thursday, during an episode of Catching Up with Mark Birnbaum on Instagram.

Back in 2014, Tyson, 53, confirmed that Foxx would be playing him in a film and would be using CGI to help him portray the heavyweight at various stages of his life and career.

However, it seems Foxx is also putting in the hard work to transform his body, and revealed that his daily workout regimen now consists of doing 60 pull ups, 60 dips, and 100 push ups.

Foxx said that the grueling fitness routine is already changing the ‘top half’ of his body but has a lot more to do when it comes to the lower part.

‘I ain’t got no legs, I ain’t got no calf muscles so we’re gonna have to get some prosthetics for that,’ Foxx said.

The actor also explained that he aims to be 216lbs when filming starts and he plays a younger version of the boxer, and then he will ‘balloon to 225, 230 which will look like 250 on screen.’

Foxx is known for having previously impersonated Tyson in the past, and has sought help from the boxing champ himself to master the role.

Tyson said in 2013: ‘Me and Jamie Foxx are in discussion, and we gonna do it.

‘Within a year to 18 months, we’re going to do the Mike Tyson story and he’s going to portray me, and now they have this new animation; because you know Jamie’s pretty much my age so he can’t portray me but they have this new system.’

Speaking to the Live Show with Kelly and Michael shortly after, Foxx said: ‘I got a chance to hang out with Mike when Mike was at his height and I watched [him] go from his height to where he is now and talked to him about doing his story. I think that story would be fantastic.’

Foxx previously won the prestigious Oscar for Best Actor for his performance on Ray in 2005.

There are currently little details about the Tyson biopic, however it seems that Foxx is keen to get started as he transforms his body with his new fitness routine.
