Tory Lanez shares anti-gun stance on social media after rapper says he has ‘reached a place in life’

Tory Lanez took to Instagram on Tuesday with an anti-gun message.

The 27-year-old Canadian rapper posted a statement declaring his new personal policy for his roughly 10 million followers.

‘I’ve reached a place in life .. where it’s like … if I have to bring my gun to the function … I don’t need to be at that type of function anymore,’ Tory posted on the social media platform.

Tory was arrested in Miramar, Florida in April 2017 on a weapons charge.

A police report said the rapper, real name Daystar Shemuel Peterson, was pulled over for an expired dealer tag on a 2014 Rolls-Royce and he did not have a valid US driver’s license. An officer reported finding a loaded firearm in the car and less than 20 grams of marijuana. 

His attorney at the time said he was innocent and would be fully exonerated.

The hip-hop artist during a March 2016 concert in Midland, Texas allegedly incited a riot when he told the crowd to ‘f*** s*** up’ as violent scuffles broke out between security and concertgoers.

Police were forced to shut down the show and multiple people were arrested prompting the venue and concert promoters to consider legal action against Tory.

The Ontario native first gained recognition with his 2013 mixtape Conflicts Of My Soul: The 416 Story.

Tory released his debut studio album I Told You in August 2016 and it included the singles Say It and Luv.

Say It peaked at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while Luv climbed to the number 19 spot on the chart.

Tory released his second album Memories Don’t Die in March 2018 and his third studio album Love Me Now? in October 2018.

The rapper amid the coronavirus pandemic launched Quarantine Radio on Instagram Live, which has featured a talent show and twerking competition, and he recently celebrated reaching 10 million followers on the social media platform.
