Former MasterChef judge Matt Preston gets creative with his $29 Kmart sausage roll maker and uses it to make ‘Mac-n-Cheese Fingers’

Matt Preston is certainly getting his money’s worth out of his $29 Kmart sausage roll maker.

The 58-year-old former MasterChef judge has proved there’s almost nothing the kitchen device can’t make, with his latest creation being ‘Mac-n-Cheese Fingers’.

In a post on Instagram on Wednesday, the food critic shared a photo of the innovative dish.

Just a day earlier, Matt had used his pie maker to make spanakopita, a Greek spinach and feta cheese pie.

‘Better than the jaffle maker version!’ he captioned it, revealing he had been coming up with ‘sausage roll-maker recipes’ for Nova FM.

Before that, he used his sausage roll maker to make apple pies, sharing photos on Instagram in May.

‘I couldn’t be prouder… making apple pies in the sausage roll maker with puff was pretty good but when my daughter suggested using up the filo in the freezer with the last of the filling, we were on to a winner!’ he wrote. 

‘Buttery, crispy and crunchy outside with apple filling that was hot but was done, well before the filling reached molten-lava, bubble-wrap roof-of-mouth hot.’ 

Matt purchased the sausage roll maker last month, calling it money ‘well spent’.

Since raving about the kitchen gadget on his Instagram, the renowned foodie revealed it had sold out.
