Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock discusses her fiancé Andre Grey’s proposal

Perrie Edwards ‘cried her eyes out like she’d been proposed to’ when Leigh-Anne Pinnock announced her engagement to footballer Andre Grey.

The singer, 26, admitted she ‘sobbed’ when her Little Mix bandmate, 28, ‘texted the group chat’ to reveal her footballer boyfriend of four years, 28, had got down on one knee and popped the question last month.

Despite admitting ‘the pressure is on’ for her Liverpool midfielder beau Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 26, Perrie insisted she’s not ready to get engaged herself as she and Leigh-Anne revealed the details of the ‘beautiful and intimate’ proposal.

Speaking as they launched Global’s Make Some Noise Emergency Appeal on Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp on Monday, Perrie said: ‘As soon as she texted our group chat and was like “girls” we just knew. We were like “oh my god it’s happened!”

‘And I sobbed, like literally cried my eyes out like I’d been proposed to! Because I was just so happy, she deserves the world and they are such a lovely couple, and I just felt so over the moon, like, can’t wait for the wedding, excited for her to plan it, it’s just amazing!’

The singer, 28, got engaged to footballer boyfriend Andre Gray, also 28, last month on the couple’s fourth anniversary and her pals think she will be tying the knot ‘soon’ because she ‘has no patience’.

Presenter Sonny Jay said: ‘I must say, it seemed like a fairy-tale engagement as well, was that what it was Leigh-Anne?’

She replied: ‘It was beautiful, yeah. It was weird because the whole day I was thinking ‘this is just too much for an anniversary’.

‘Because I was watching them build it and I was like ‘what is going on?’ And I was messaging the girls like ‘guys, now they’re putting out candles, now there’s fairy lights, what’s going on!?’

‘I really thought – it was just weird, I didn’t know – because I didn’t ever think it was going to happen but at the same time it was a lot for an anniversary, so…’

Sonny said: ‘I’m a bit worried, he’s set a high standard for all the other blokes out there…’

Roman chimed in: ‘I was going to say, Perrie, Alex must be going ‘Ohhh god! Ohhh god!”

But Perrie said that she and Alex are not ready to tie the knot just yet.

She said: ‘Everyone keeps saying that! Everyone keeps saying ‘the pressure’s on!’ and I think that because Andre did such an amazing job – like what an amazing proposal, the whole thing was just so well thought out and planned and it was beautiful, it was intimate.

‘So all the boys are having Alex’s life now, like ‘ohhh!’ But we’re not ready for that year, we’re not ready for that yet, we’re letting them two enjoy it. Oh, love is wonderful isn’t it guys?’

The girls had come on the show to talk about the charity appeal which is raising funds for those hardest hit by coronavirus in our communities.

Little Mix are giving fans the chance to join them for a gossip on their very own exclusive video chats to help raise funds for small charities that are helping those experiencing grief, poverty, domestic abuse, loneliness, illness and mental health problems, as well as carers and care workers.

Speaking about backing Global’s Make Some Noise Emergency Appeal Leigh-Anne said: ‘I just think that obviously so many people have been hit so hard by this and it’s just what we should do as a nation right?

‘We do need to pull together, we do need to help each other.’ Perrie added: ‘We’ll be doing a video call and we want to hang out with you guys, we’re really fun you know. We love a little Zoom chat!’

Some of the world’s biggest stars are backing the appeal including Stormzy, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, Dua Lipa, Craig David, Chris Martin, Gary Barlow and Ed Sheeran, showing their support by donating a host of incredible ‘money can’t buy’ prizes to raise funds.
