Davina McCall, 52, insists it’s ‘not just men’ that have a mid-life crisis three years after splitting from husband Matthew Robertson

Davina McCall has insisted that ‘it’s not just men’ who have a mid-life crisis, after recently splitting from her husband of 17 years.

The presenter, 52, said she believes husbands are not the only ones who question their marriage in their 40s and 50s, after ending her own long-term relationship at the age of 49.

Davina split from from husband Matthew Robertson in 2017 after 17 years together, and is now dating her longtime friend Michael Douglas.

Honest: Davina McCall has insisted that ‘it’s not just men’ who have a mid-life crisis, after recently splitting from her husband of 17 years

When speaking with her boyfriend Michael on their podcast, Making The Cut, Davina shared: ‘I know lots of women who are at a stage in their life where they think, ”Is this it?”

‘It probably comes as no surprise that there are so many divorces between the age of 40 and 50.

‘That’s the mid-life crisis where you’ll start asking yourself those questions: ”Am I happy? Is this what I want? Where am I going? What am I doing? Who am I?”’

The mother-of-three continued: ”Because in those early years it’s all about family, the toddler years, everybody’s in it together. And then the toddlers start growing up, they don’t need you any more and then, who am I?”

Davina had been friends with hairdresser Michael, 46, for 20 years before they began dating last year.

Even though they have spent lockdown apart, Davina said she has learnt a lot about him over the weeks from the podcast.

She told him: ‘Even though I’ve known you for 20 years, every podcast I’ve learnt something new about you.’

The TV personality revealed in February that she was building her own house after buying a plot of land.

Speaking to Women & Home about getting a ‘fresh start’, she said: ‘I’m building a house! My kids and I have been renting and we were trying to find a plot of land. So we’re doing it together.

‘This year is going to be super stressful, but really fun. It’s the next phase of our lives – a house that we’ve all built and everyone gets to choose how they want their bedrooms.
