A murder probe has been launched after a man in his forties was knifed to death at a house. 

A 63-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained.  

Police were called to a property in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, shortly before 8pm last night following reports that a man had been stabbed. 

The victim, a man in his late 40s, was rushed to Furness General Hospital, but later died of his injuries.

A police spokesman said: ‘At 7.56pm last night police were called to a property in the Broad Close area of Barrow-in-Furness following a report that a man had been stabbed.

‘On attendance the victim, a man aged in his late forties, was taken to Furness General Hospital but died a short time later.

‘Formal identification is yet to be made.

‘As a result of initial scene enquiries, a local man aged 63 years old was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently detained.

‘Enquiries are ongoing.’
