Trump invites random man to golf then blocks him when he calls him a despicable human being

Donald Trump allegedly sent a private message to a random Brit inviting him to a round of golf then promptly blocked him on Twitter when the man turned him down and called the president ‘a despicable human being’.

The president appears to have been left feeling rejected after Liam Bennett, a Welshman and inventor of the sausage-donut hybrid called The Dausage, refused his offer for a game of golf and instead called on Trump to resign from the White House.

Their new-found friendship came to an abrupt end almost as quickly as it started Thursday morning, with Trump seemingly blocking Bennett from his Twitter.

Bennett shared the entertaining exchange in a series of images on social media, alongside a post reading: ‘Wow, that was a wild few minutes where the actual President of the USA was following me on Twitter and even sent me a message. Shame it ended so badly.’

The hilarious encounter began when Bennett responded to a tweet from Today’s Golfer magazine on Tuesday which read: ‘If you could play golf with one celebrity, who would it be?’

‘I’d pick @realDonaldTrump. He was great in Home Alone 2,’ replied Bennett.

Ever on the lookout for fans, Trump appeared to quickly follow Bennett on Twitter, making him number 46 in the president’s select group of people he follows.

Bennett says the president then sent him a private message inviting him to his golf course in Scotland, which he humbly professed to be the ‘best course in the world’.

‘Hi Liam, I saw you wanted to play golf with me. Next time I’m in England I’ll take you and your family up to my Trump International course in Scotland. It’s the BEST course in the WORLD,’ Trump appeared to write.

‘Wow, thanks for messaging me, but I think you’re a despicable human being, and even if I could play golf I wouldn’t want to play with you,’ replied Bennett.

He then followed his response up with a different request, writing: ‘How about resigning?’

It seems this wasn’t quite the response Trump had expected or hoped for, with Bennett sharing an image showing the ego-bruised president quickly blocked his account.

A screenshot posted on Bennett’s Twitter account showed the notification ‘You’re blocked’ meaning he can no longer follow or see Trump’s Tweets.

Bennett’s Twitter post of the exchange had gained 135,000 likes and 32,000 retweets by midday Thursday.

Several amused social media users mocked the president for his offer of golf with a stranger while the US is in the midst of widespread civil unrest following the death of George Floyd.

‘The fake potus has nothing better to do than DM random Twitter users he mistakenly thought liked him to invite him to golf…. lol lol lol,’ one person Tweeted.

Another wrote: ‘So @realDonaldTrump is advertising his golf courses to random citizens in the middle of a pandemic and national unrest?’

‘Anyone you can bait with a tweet, should not have the nuclear codes,’ one person tweeted, while others shared different memes poking fun at the president.

Some were skeptical over the credibility of the exchange, with one person asking if Bennett had used Photoshop to create the series of messages.

Bennett’s reply is still visible on Today’s Golfer’s Tweet.

The White House has brushed off the incident as fake news, according to the New York Times.

One White House official claimed the president doesn’t direct message people, while another said it was ‘fake and Twitter’s refusal to mark it as ‘manipulated media’ is just more evidence of their bias’, the Times’ White House correspondent Katie Rogers tweeted.
