Kylie and Kendall Jenner call dad Caitlyn Jenner ‘our hero’ during Pride month five years after her transition

Kylie and Kendall Jenner called their transgender father Caitlyn Jenner ‘our hero’ in the new Pride issue of People.

Caitlyn, 70, the former Olympian once known as Bruce Jenner, announced her transition on the July 2015 cover of Vanity Fair.

Now a half-decade later, Kendall revealed to People: ‘When my dad came out as transgender, our relationship grew. She could finally be honest with me.’

The 24-year-old supermodel continued: ‘We could talk about deep emotions she was feeling through that time.’

Kendall, whose mother is Kris Jenner, shared: ‘Growing up my dad was not usually one to talk about her feelings so that was a big step for us.’

Said she: ‘I used to watch old Olympic videos of my dad and wish I could be a part of those spectacular moments with her. There are so many stories she tells about her life and I love to just sit there and listen.’

Kendall explained: ‘She has lived so many amazing lives in one lifetime. My favorite thing to learn from my dad is about my dad. Inspiring then and inspiring now.’

She added: ‘Because of my dad’s bravery, I’ve learned to love what I love and not be ashamed of it. She’s been my role model since before I can even remember, from sports growing up to now with her wisdom. She’s so brave and I aspire to be as brave as her one day.’

Kendall, who told Vogue: ‘I’m not gay!’ in 2018 after years of lesbian rumors, told the new Pride issue of People she has been a ‘daddy’s girl my whole life.’

Meanwhile Kylie dished: ‘My dad has always been an inspiration to me, from winning the gold medal at the Olympics to getting her pilot’s license. However, watching her live out her true self has been the most inspiring of them all.’

Caitlyn told the new Pride issue of People that she would have declined to transition if any of her 10 children had been against the idea.

While speaking to this year’s new March issue of Harper’s Bazaar she revealed that she still has a close relationship with Caitlyn.

Caitlyn had a rift with some members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan amid the publication of her 2017 memoir The Secrets Of My Life, which contained an unflattering portrayal of Kylie and Kendall’s mother Kris.

Yet Kylie and Caitlyn speak ‘like every day… except I couldn’t talk to her for three or four weeks when she did that show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’

She shared: ‘I watched clips online. It was hard to be out of touch for that long, but I feel like it was harder for her because she couldn’t see us.’

While on I’m A Celebrity… Caitlyn revealed why her children still call her ‘dad’ even after she came out and transitioned.

‘Kendall asked me the question first, and I go: “Dad. I mean, I’m your dad and I’ve always be your dad till the day I die, so,”‘ Caitlyn recalled.

‘And but what they’re really good at, when they’re talking about me: “my dad, she.” And it’s tough to change the pronouns, you know, in the middle of it, you know?’
