Big Brother outrage: Three people of colour are eliminated in the first week

Big Brother fans call for the return of public voting after three people of colour were eliminated in the first week

Soobong Hwang became the third person to be evicted from the Big Brother house on Wednesday night.

The 48-year-old’s elimination comes after Fijian-Australian Laura Coriakula as well as Chinese-Australian Allan Liang were sent home.

Viewers have now criticised the remaining housemates for evicting three people of colour in three days.

‘#BBAU you evicted three people of colour in three nights… the housemates are bland and threatened,’ one person tweeted.

‘Are we just going to ignore that all three people that have been evicted have been POC [people of colour],’ another wrote.

A third commented: ‘For the third night running, a person of colour (and second Asian) has been evicted from Big Brother.

‘Fans say it’s because of their “personalities”. Guess it’s a coincidence that most of the whites are hot and sporty and bland and non-threatening!’

'Yet again!' After Wednesday's episode, viewers flocked to Twitter to criticise the housemates' decision to send home Soobong Hwang, Laura Coriakula and Allan Liang in the first week

‘So Angela will be next to go, because everyone of colour is a “threat”… that seems to be how the show is trending right now,’ another tweeted.

One outspoken fan of the series suggested that ‘public voting needs to be back’.

Another added: ‘Only Channel Seven could create a competitive TV show where four out of 24 of the cast are POC and eliminate three of them in the first three episodes.’

Fitness fanatic Soobong had arrived at the Big Brother compound in a metal cage suspended by a crane, alongside three other latecomers, Shane Vincent, Hannah Campbell and Danni Keogh on Wednesday.

Despite his obvious physical advantages when it comes to the challenges, the others saw him as a threat and decided it was best to send him home sooner rather than later.

He was the third housemate to be evicted from the series, with 12 votes.

Allan had been sent home by an overwhelming majority the night before, and Laura had been the first to go on Monday.

Big Brother Australia continues Sunday at 7.30pm on Channel Seven
