So who does the dishes on MasterChef? Sarah Tiong shares behind the scenes secrets

She was booted off MasterChef Australia on Tuesday in a shock elimination. 

And now fan favourite Sarah Tiong has revealed some behind-the-scenes secrets from the Channel 10 cooking show. 

Appearing on The Project on Wednesday, the 29-year-old lawyer revealed who actually does the dishes on set.  

The Project host Waleed Aly asked Sarah who cleans up the mess in the kitchen after the cooking challenges.

‘You made a real mess when you cook. That’s a sign of a great cook to me,’ he said.

‘But who does the dishes? What happens there?’ 

Sarah said that ‘spectacular’ people working behind the scenes do the dishes.

‘Oh look, there’s an incredible team of people at MasterChef that, unfortunately for them, do the dishes,’ she said.

‘But they are just spectacular people.’

She also spoke about the intense pressure test that sent her home on Tuesday, saying it had been a ‘daunting’ and ‘impossible’ task.  

‘It was completely daunting, this is a curry that chef Benjamin Cooper spent years perfecting and we have 90 minutes and no recipe to recreate the same thing,’ Sarah said.

She had found herself in the bottom two with Poh Ling Yeow and failing to impress the judges with her jungle curry.  

Hosts Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo agreed Sarah’s elimination ‘hurt’.

‘For me, MasterChef has been such a pivotal part of my life, both in 2017 and now in 2020,’ Sarah said afterwards.

‘It’s created so much joy and discovery for myself. I want to leave this kitchen on a really positive note and that’s just be kind and have fun.’
