Conor McGregor is tipped to appear on next series of I’m A Celebrity

He stunned fans on Sunday by announcing his unexpected retirement from UFC fighting. 

But Conor McGregor is now a favourite to go down under and appear on the next series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here.  

The UFC megastar, 31, took to Twitter on Sunday to announce his shock retirement, and now insiders are predicting a future for the sports superstar in the ITV jungle.  

Bookmakers have him down as 8/1 to head to the Australian jungle as a campmate. 

Ladbrokes’s Jessica O’Reilly told The Daily Star: ‘McGregor would be a box office signing if ITV bosses can afford him and he swaps the octagon for the jungle.’  

Announcing his retirement on Sunday, Conor told his Instagram followers: ‘Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! 

‘Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours.’ 

Conor made the announcement just minutes after Amanda Nunes’s dominant win over Felicia Spencer at UFC 250 on Saturday night. 

Conor has retired with a whopping 22 wins and just four losses on his records. 

However, some of his fans doubted the truth of his statement as it isn’t the first time he’s announced his retirement only to come back to the ring. 

In April 2016, the fighter said he was giving up. And again in October 2018 he said he was retiring after losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov. 

One person commented: ‘If I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard you say that.’  While another said: ‘Third time you’ve retired in 12 months isn’t it?’ And another wrote: ‘Every few months the same narrative.’
