Australia falls in love with Big Brother’s Ian Joass

‘He must be protected’: Australia falls in love with Big Brother’s Ian Joass as the waiter and geology enthusiast quickly becomes a fan favourite

He’s the friendly self-confessed introvert, who has a fascination for geology.

And it appears Ian Joass has already won over Australian viewers, quickly becoming a fan favourite during Monday’s premiere episode of Big Brother.

Many fans rushed to Twitter to express their feelings for the Perth-based 25-year-old fossil geek.

‘This season of Big Brother is about Ian and Ian only,’ one fan tweeted.

‘Ian must be protected at all costs and Alan and Angela need to be voted out right now,’ a second added.

‘The only one I don’t find annoying is Ian,’ a third fan commented.

'If Ian doesn't win, this show is rigged!' tweeted one fan. The geologist has already won over Australian viewers and become a fan favourite

Former Big Brother star Tully Smyth, who appeared on the show in 2013, also shared the same views.

‘Sweet, sweet Ian. I’m already worried about you,’ she wrote.

And it seems Ian isn’t only a favourite with audiences, host Sonia Kruger labelled him a ‘standout’ and a ‘real enigma’.

Speaking to news.com.au, Sonia said: ‘He’s a fossil collector, he’s very shy, he’s not a typical Big Brother housemate who you think of as outgoing’.

Ian works as a waiter and loves the ‘people skills’ he’s developed on the job.

He’s also an only child, grew up in the bush in Western Australia and has always been fascinated by ecology and biology.

Big Brother Australia continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel Seven
