Ed Sheeran comes out of music retirement to pen songs for fellow singers… as his new collaborator details their exciting project

Ed Sheeran is said to have come out of music retirement to write new songs with South African singer Jeremy Loops.

The Shape Of You, 29, announced back in August 2019 that he intended to take an ‘extended break’ from the music business following the end of his record-breaking 258-date Divide tour.

But Jeremy, 36, revealed on Friday that he had been working on an exciting new project with Ed prior to the UK’s lockdown.

Speaking to The Sun, the singer said: ‘I arrived early in the morning and we worked all day on a few different songs. He’s known to be a very fast writer.

‘He’s very fluid and moves quickly. He can work with whoever he wants, so there’s something beautiful about the fact that he wanted to work with me.

‘I couldn’t have called him and been like, “Yeah, I want to work together, like, get ready”.’

MailOnline have contacted Ed’s representatives for comment.

Last month it was reported that Ed was brewing his own beer to supply the pub on the grounds of his sprawling £3.7million Suffolk estate, according to reports.

Ed is said to have taken delivery of make-your-own craft beer kits which he hopes to serve in his hangout called The Lancaster Lock.

And a source has since told The Sun: ‘Ed loves his beer — especially his real ales and craft beers.

‘He’s had a few kits delivered and has been having fun making his own drinks.

‘They aren’t too bad but he doesn’t think any of the major breweries have got anything to worry about just yet.’

Following his epic two-year tour that ended last year Ed revealed he wanted a short hiatus from music in order to spend time with his wife Cherry Seaborn, who he married in December 2018.

Ed reportedly said at his final show, after turning his hometown into a massive festival venue: ‘As you may or not know, I’ve been on the Divide tour for over two years now and this is the last day of the whole thing.’

‘There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months,’ The Sun reports.

He added: ‘It’s been an emotional day for a lot of people backstage. It kind of feels like, in a weird way, that you’re breaking up with a girlfriend that you’ve been with for years. It sounds odd but it has been a long tour.’

Ed is also believed to have told fans during the final show in his hometown of Ipswich: ‘See you in a few years time. Thank you!’
