Love Island EXCLUSIVE: Demi Jones was left ‘worried’ when opportunities dried up in lockdown

EXCLUSIVE ‘I was brought back down to earth’: Love Island’s Demi Jones admits she was left ‘worried’ when opportunities dried up at the start of lockdown

Love Island has been responsible for providing many former contestants with thriving careers in beauty, fashion and TV.

But winter finalist Demi Jones has admitted she was left worrying about her future as opportunities have dried up this time round due to the coronavirus lockdown in an exclusive interview with MailOnline.

The reality star, 21, confessed she’s been ‘brought back down to earth’ during the global crisis, but is hopeful she can still follow in the footsteps of ex-Islanders, with the beauty launching plumping kits with Project Lip and her own loungewear brand.

In April, PR expert Jack Cooper predicted the stars of the ITV2 dating series’ inaugural winter edition have lost £500,000 in ‘missed lucrative projects’ due to the pandemic.

On losing out on key moneymaking moments which have previously bagged stars up to millions of pounds, the style advisor divulged: ‘I came out of Love Island and I was so excited with a world of opportunity.

‘But I’m sort of brought back down to earth with the lockdown. In a way it’s been nice because it’s allowed me to spend time with my family and has kept me grounded.

‘At the same time I’ve been worried as I’ve missed out on quite a few opportunities, we’re definitely getting there now.’

And optimistic Demi is right ― she has just collaborated with Project Lip for her first project since leaving the villa.

Launching three-step plumping kits, the Archaeology graduate’s products are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, and aim to increase collagen if used every day for 28 days.

On her new venture, she said: ‘Project Lip is amazing, it’s vegan-friendly, cruelty free and the team have been lovely and so supportive. We’ve released four lip kits.

‘I’ve never had filler before in my life, so this is really nice and a confidence-boost. I’m only 21 and there’s so much pressure to get surgery done, so this is a nice pick-me up.’

The University of Winchester alum has taken things a step further by also creating her own loungewear brand for ‘girls who want to feel uplifted’.

‘We’ve been working on Demi Lounge since I came out of the villa, it’s all my own’, she said. ‘As loungewear has been doing really well, I wanted to create a collection for girls to enjoy and feel uplifted, even though it is unisex.

‘It’s really comfortable as well. People who know me know that I’m really loud, so we have some cute slogan tees which emulate my personality.’
