Roxy Jacenko announces she’s ‘semi-retired’ after losing 85 per cent of her clients

PR queen Roxy Jacenko says she HATED her job and is now semi-retired at 39 after losing the majority of her clients in the coronavirus recession

Roxy Jacenko has announced her semi-retirement from the public relations industry.  

The blonde, who is regarded as Sydney’s foremost PR guru, revealed on Monday that being forced to take a break from work during COVID-19 lockdown made her realise she actually disliked her profession. 

‘It’s been actually a realisation for me. I hated my job. I didn’t like what I was doing,’ the 39-year-old told The Kyle And Jackie O Show.

‘I’m now semi-retired,’ she went on, explaining how the hectic nature of her job made it impossible for her to enjoy life. 

‘You don’t stop. You’re like a mouse on that spinning wheel and it wasn’t until we were in forced isolation,’ she explained. 

The blonde explained that her PR business suffered tremendously as a result of COVID-19.

‘We lost 85 per cent of our clients in three days. And I was like, ‘hang on a second, actually, I really dislike what I’m doing’.’ 

Clearly shocked, Kyle interjected: ‘But you’re so good at it!’.

‘Yes but I mean, I’ve had a job since I was 14. So now I’m like, it’s time to smell the roses,’ the mother-of-two responded.

Roxy said she is now focussing on running her famous branding boot camps, and running her and eight-year-old daughter Pixie’s hair accessory businesses. 

‘I didn’t have the opportunity to go to school concerts and all of that and now I can,’ she mused. 

Describing her career as a ‘sick addiction’, Roxy declared: ‘I always thought I’d retire by 40, and that’s what I’m doing.’ 

While Roxy may be semi-retired, Sweaty Betty Pr will continue to be managed by her employees.

Roxy founded Sweaty Betty at in 2004 at the age of 24, and has represented the likes of corporate giants Coles, Big W, Peugeot and Puma.
