The experienced kayakers were enjoying a sunny day out in Lakewood, Ohio when they noticed something strange in the water on May 26.

‘Not a duck. Not a goose. It was a deer’s HEAD kicking up a wake and blasting out in the general direction of Canada at warp speed,’ a kayaker who filmed their adventure said.

‘There is a deer in the water. There is a deer about a mile out. Holy sh*t,’ he’s heard shouting incredulously as he paddles closer.

The trio were concerned for the creature seeing it frantically bob up and down through the water and decided to guide it back to shore.

‘This is unbelievable. He needs to turn around. The poor thing needs to turn around because it’s going to drown,’ the man filming said.

The man filming then rallied up his pals and they positioned themselves behind the deer to scare it and force it to swim to shore.

‘There we go! Head em out! Ride em in! Bambi! Keep going! You go this cause I ain’t bringing you into this boat,’ he jokes.

The good-hearted kayakers adamantly paddled after the creature to reset its course back to land and set it towards a dock to climb up to safety.

After struggling to get up, the young deer was able to scramble onto some rocks and get onto the grass.

At the end of the clip the deer was seen happily leaping through the grassy hills.

‘Oh my goodess! Ladies and gentlemen, the deer herders. Absolutely unprecedented,’ the man filming says.

‘That I would says a first and probably a last,’ he said.

‘That deer was half a mile out and heading towards Canada. Anyways, that’s today! And that’s why on Lake Eerie it’s never boring,’ he cheerily added.
