The episode begins by introducing several housemates, including a regimental sergeant major, an ex-AFL player, a former Olympian and ‘Adelaide’s worst driver’.

‘I have searched for a new breed of housemate from all walks of life. But nothing will prepare them for what I have planned,’ Big Brother says in a voice-over.

The contestants are then pictured entering a large challenge room with equipment.

‘To get to the end, housemates must win the challenges, control the nominees, evict each other and when only three housemates remain then Australia will decide who will win Big Brother,’ Big Brother explains.

The first contestant, Kieran, is then shown arriving at the compound, where he is greeted by host Sonia Kruger.

The show was pre-recorded throughout February and March in Sydney, and will have no public vote until the finale, which is believed to be the only live episode.
