The Voice ‘fix scandal’ continues as viewers slam ‘unfair’ show

The Voice ‘fix scandal’ continues: Viewers slam ‘unfair’ show as a former winner AND Guy Sebastian’s best friend audition after his brother sailed through the Blinds

The Voice Australia has been branded ‘unfair’ by frustrated viewers.

After fans hit out last week when Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris sailed through the Blinds, the coach’s best friend Matt Gresham auditioned on Sunday night.

Matt, who has toured the world as a professional singer, made it through to the next round, along with Masha Mnjoyan, who won The Voice Armenia in 2013.

‘Guy Sebastian should stop bringing his friends on here. He did it last year as well, it’s a bit unfair to other contestants,’ one viewer tweeted on Sunday.

‘Must be written in Guy’s contract that The Voice producers have to give his friends and family airtime,’ another fan speculated.

‘Is there anymore friends and family of Guy going to audition?’ a third wrote.

Despite the show being an ‘all-stars’ season this year – meaning former contestants from different versions of The Voice around the world can compete – many fans questioned if it was fair for The Voice Armenia winner Masha to enter.

‘I don’t know how I feel about a previous The Voice winner, different country or not, being able to audition again… seems unfair!’ one viewer wrote on Twitter.

‘Does anyone else think it’s unfair that a WINNER from another Voice international gets to go through? I thought they where looking for raw talent, not someone who’s already won. She’s not even an All-Star, she won… go figure,’ another tweeted.

Masha, 25, moved to Australia several years ago after her music career failed to take off in Armenia following her victory on The Voice in 2013.

After singing Celine Dion’s All By Myself on Sunday, all four coaches fought for Masha to be on their team. Kelly Rowland declared her a ‘superstar’ already.

‘I am so humbled and grateful for this amazing experience. I am super appreciative to everyone, especially the judges and their inspirational feedback,’ said Masha.

After Delta used one of her ‘block’ buttons to stop the contestant being able to choose Guy as his mentor, the coach revealed their very close friendship.

Matt previously toured the world as a musician, but turned his back on his career after suffering depression following the death of a friend several years ago.

‘I seriously love you and know what you’re capable of,’ Guy said after Matt’s audition.
