Man, 32, is charged with attempted murder after horror knife attack at home that left mother, 37, and seven-month-old baby seriously injured

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a double stabbing that has left a woman and her seven-month-old baby fighting for their lives in Tipton, West Midlands.

Armed police officers and ambulance crews were called to the address at 12:30am on Thursday after witnesses reported seeing a woman ‘lying in a pool of blood’ and a young baby ‘held in a headlock’. 

Aamer Araf, 32, was arrested at the home in Mansion Drive and will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

The young boy, who has a twin sister, is currently in a critical condition and police and police are trying to establish the cause of his injuries.

The mother, 37, is thought to now be in a stable condition following the attack. 

The police are not searching for anybody else in connection with the incident. 

A woman at the scene, who wished to remain anonymous, said: ‘The woman was lying in blood on the floor to the side of the door in the corner. There were smears and splatters of blood on her wrists and arms. I couldn’t see her face.’
