Insiders revealed that due to being separated for three months due to the global pandemic, they could not make their romance work. 

A source told The Sun: ‘Demi wants to keep it all a secret because she has a clothing range coming out in a few weeks and hoped to tell all then. Luke has already spilled the beans to pals and told them it’s all over for good…

The couple met on the show’s first ever winter series, which kicked off in South Africa in January, and fell for one another when Demi entered Casa Amor. 

After finishing in third place in the final in February, Demi and Luke appeared to be stronger than ever however just five weeks later lockdown commenced. 

The couple are living an eye-popping 312 miles apart, with Demi currently residing in Portsmouth while Luke is in the seaside town of Redcar.

In March, Luke told his fans that he and Demi were still just ‘seeing each other’ despite Love Island concluding weeks before. At the time he admitted the UK being plunged into lockdown amid the COVID-19 outbreak has put a dampener on things.

Answering a fan question on YouTube, he said: ‘Me and Demi are good, obviously this lockdown is really hard for us.

‘Obviously, we do see each other quite a bit, before that we were staying in hotels and working together and she’s spending lockdown with her family and I’m spending it with mine. 

‘We do Facetime, Snapchat and talk so we are going good. We are just seeing each other at the minute, we are just seeing how things are going.

‘We haven’t had the full test on the outside world yet because of this lockdown, so we are just going to see how things go.’
