Liam Gallagher tells brother Noel he ‘loves him long time’ as he attempts to end their bitter feud with a surprise olive branch on musician’s 53rd birthday

Liam Gallagher offered brother Noel a rare olive branch on Friday morning by reaching out to wish the musician a happy birthday.

The warring siblings have not spoken to one another since the bitter backstage fight that effectively brought about the disbandment of ‘90s Brit Pop pioneers Oasis in 2008.

But after more than a decade of hostility, Liam wished his older brother will as the High-Flying Birds frontman kicked off his 53rd birthday.

Taking to Twitter, the platform upon which many of his grievances have been very publicly aired, the 47-year old wrote: ‘Happy birthday Rkid have a good 1 love you long time.’ 

The post, which is yet to be acknowledged by Noel, has since promoted an inevitable wave of comments from fans, with many asking the singer if he still hopes Oasis will reunite. 

Responding to one such question, he wrote: ‘More than ever.’

Lockdown appears to have had a conciliatory effect on Liam’s mood, with the typically brash singer also offering nemesis Robbie Williams a kind word on social media.  

Liam reconnected with Robbie on Wednesday after the former Take That star revealed his father Pete Conway has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. 

He tweeted: ‘Oi Robbie balboa it’s LG I hear you got shit going down in your fam I’m sorry to hear that love n light going out to your family stay cool and in tune LG’.

The 46-year-old singer was delighted to receive the message from Liam and admitted it ‘means a lot’ to him. He replied: ‘Brother.that means a lot to me ..Carry on being celestial .the world needs you .Your fan rob [heart emoji] (sic)’ 

Despite their war of words over the years, Robbie recently hailed Liam ‘iconic’ and ‘the voice of a generation’, prompting a fan in a separate exchange to ask the For What It’s Worth’ singer if the war with his rival was off.

Using the rhyming slang for fight – Barry White – Liam replied: ‘There was never gonna be a Barry peace n love (sic)’
