Not everything on live TV always goes to plan.

The meteorologist was interrupted during his live segment as the large machine edged closer to him without warning.

‘Excuse my camera. Get out of it,’ Nate said, keeping composure as he stepped away from the machine in hopes it would back away.

The ABC team could be heard laughing in the studio, as the robot disappeared from view to let Nate continue his weather report.

‘But Darwin, like my weather, is staying fine and sunny,’ Nate joked at the end of his segment as he crossed back to the desk.

Host Michael Rowland laughed and jokingly added: ‘Well done in challenging circumstances, Nate. We have the pushiest of cameras in the studio, hogging the limelight, you cannot believe what they’re like. Well done.’

‘I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords…so long as they stay out of my shot,’ he wrote with the video attached for fans to rewatch.

On his Facebook, he also shared the video, writing: ‘Warning: the robots are starting to show an interest in the weather. They may be finalising their plans.’
