Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris surprises him by auditioning on The Voice… four years after he slammed the show as ‘rude’ and ‘dishonest’
There’s going to be a Sebastian family reunion on The Voice Australia this week.
Guy Sebastian’s brother Chris is set to audition for Nine’s singing competition on Monday’s episode, leaving the celebrity coach blindsided.
Chris, who qualifies as an all-star contestant after appearing on The Voice’s first season in 2012, feared his family connection would lead to humiliation if he didn’t get through the Blinds.

‘My name is Chris Sebastian and I’m an all-star,’ he said in a trailer released on Sunday. ‘Having my brother on the panel… I’ve had some sleepless nights.’
Chris said he would be embarrassed if his famous brother failed to recognise his voice and turn his chair – or indeed if none of the other coaches turned for him.
He was mentored by Seal during his first stint on The Voice in 2012. Delta Goodrem was also a coach on the show that year, alongside Benji Madden and Keith Urban.

Speaking to Woman’s Day on Monday, Chris said he had already ‘ruled out’ choosing Guy as his mentor on the show, if he gets past the blind auditions.
He told the magazine: ‘I had him ruled out from the beginning. I’d hate people to think I wasn’t there for my own abilities or it was rigged.
‘I didn’t want anyone to think I was getting special treatment.’
Bizarrely, Chris slammed The Voice after appearing on the show eight years ago, saying bosses failed to recognise him as an artist, rather than just ‘Guy’s brother’.
‘I really didn’t want to [do the show],’ he told The Music in 2016.

Chris continued: ‘They did a lot of things that they weren’t meant to, like after my performance they played my brother’s song. And the whole point was for me to have my own identity. So it was a bit of a crappy experience.
‘It was a real slap in the face, and when I asked them about that they were just like, almost smug about it. Like they [knew] it all along, it was just rude… real dishonest.’
However, Guy told TV Week on Monday that Chris’s experience would be much more positive this time around, saying: ‘I’m so close to my brothers. I would die for them.
‘We’re such a tight family unit. That’s why I was so nervous about Chris doing the show. He was approached last year, and after I had a year of being a coach, I knew it was a safe space for him to go back into.’
