The Voice Australia: All-star Jon Wiza reveals why he’s HAPPY he was rejected by all coaches

The Voice EXCLUSIVE: International all-star Jon Wiza reveals why he’s HAPPY he was rejected on the show… after boasting of fame in Colombia

International all-star Jon Wiza has claimed that he’s relieved he was rejected by all four coaches on The Voice Australia during Sunday’s season nine premiere.

The contestant boasted of his fame and fans in South America after appearing on The Voice Colombia in 2015 before his audition, but then failed to impress.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Monday, Jon said he’s glad he didn’t get through on the show so he could ‘rest his vocal chords’ before returning home to tour.

‘After so many shows back home, my voice needed a break,’ began Jon.

‘It actually turned out for the best because I had to leave on tour [after my audition] as I had several shows with the symphony orchestra of Puerto Rico in the US and the National Orchestra of Guatemala amongst others.’

‘I’m actually happy how everything turned out. I was aware that even though I’m well known in Latin America, I was a total newcomer in Australia.’

Jon and his wife Ana Helo came to Australia on student visas to practise their English. He then decided to audition for the show once settled Down Under.

‘Coming to Australia as a student and being able to sing in front of millions seems like an awesome deal. It has been an amazing experience,’ he concluded.

The artist, known as One Wiza internationally, failed to impress coaches Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Kelly Rowland and Boy George on Sunday night.

Ahead of his audition, he said: ‘I was on The Voice Colombia in 2015. I made it all the way to the semi-finals. I was huge in Guatemala and Puerto Rico so I’m just very excited that I get to do this now in Australia.

‘It’s awesome to have a second shot. I think my fans are going to be very, very proud of me. I’m sure they’ll be loving this moment for me. It’s going to be a new chapter in my life as an artist being on The Voice Australia.’

Despite failing to get through following his rendition of Don’t Stop Believin’, the coaches praised Jon’s vocals and offered him some constructive criticism.
