Industry insider reveals mission to reinstate Johanna Griggs as host of House Rules

‘They’ll do anything to get her back’: Joh Griggs ‘may return as host of House Rules’ – as poor ratings threaten the future of Seven’s renovation show

This season, Johanna Griggs exited her role as host of House Rules after seven years.

But it might not be long until she returns to the renovation program if network executives have their way.

According to Woman’s Day on Monday, a source claims Channel Seven are desperate to get Johanna back on the realty TV show.

Johanna shocked her fans when she revealed she was leaving the long-running show, and in April they campaigned for her return.

‘Everyone at Seven absolutely adores Joh, and they’ll do anything to get her back,’ the insider claimed.

The former competitive swimmer left the show to take a more active role in the Seven Sport team and help with coverage for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

While she still appears on Seven’s Better Homes And Gardens, the Olympics and many other sporting events have been cancelled, postponed or scaled back amid the coronavirus pandemic.

When Joh left the program as its host, she was replaced by two co-hosts; Jamie Durie and Abbey Gelmi.

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Saul Myers and cricket WAG-turned-interior designer Kyly Clarke also star as judges on the revamped home renovation series.

The new 2020 series hasn’t rated well with viewers, with the insider claiming the network may try to use Joh’s popularity to win back its audience in 2021.

‘It might not return next year, but if it does, they’re going to do everything in their power to get Joh involved at some capacity.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Seven for comment.

‘It’s hard to imagine a world where Jamie and Joh as co-hosts,’ the source said, citing their alleged feud over the years.

However, Joh has consistently denied ‘bad blood’ and even slammed Woman’s Day in 2019 for reporting that the pair had a ‘bitter rivalry’.

Posting to Instagram at the time she denied having ‘snapped’ on set or that there were ‘crisis meetings’ by production about their on-and-off air relationship.

‘That didn’t happen then, nor are there any secret crisis meetings behind closed doors at Seven about Jamie and me happening now. In actual fact – Jamie and I just finished a great week away on the road together shooting for Better Homes and Gardens. We had an absolute ball!’
