Coronation Street star Sam Aston announces he’s expecting his first child with wife Briony

Coronation Street star Sam Aston has announced he’s expecting his first child with his wife Briony.

The soap star confirmed the exciting news to OK! saying: ‘We’re so happy!’

Sam, 26, tied the knot with Briony, 25, last year, two years after the couple announced their engagement.

Earlier this month Sam and Briony celebrated their first wedding anniversary together while living in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic. 

Posting a throwback snap from the big day, Sam wrote: ‘Trying our hardest to relive the best day of our lives happy 1 year anniversary @yoga_with_briony thank you for all the beautiful and happy memories.’

Sharing a similar snap from their wedding, Briony wrote: ‘It doesn’t matter that we’re spending our 1st Anniversary in lockdown, we’re spending it together in our home, and that’s what truly matters.’

Sam recently said that he and Briony ‘liked the idea of a big family,’ but not yet as ‘neither of them feel ready.’

He told OK!: ‘We want to enjoy being married for a while first and do some more travelling.’ 

Sam exchanged vows with Briony in front of friends and family members at the lavish Cheshire venue Stock Farm.

The soap star recently admitted that despite their idyllic marriage, he actually ‘ended’ his relationship with the stunning yoga teacher when he was a teenager because he felt they were ‘too young’ to be together.

He told the Mirror in July: ‘Briony and I met when I was about 15 or 16. We talked through MSN messenger and then went on a date. We got together, but we were very young. I ended it – which she always likes to bring up.’ 

Sharing how years later they rekindled their romance, the star revealed that Briony was helping out at a drama workshop where he taught. 

Sam revealed: ‘We went for a meal that night at a country pub and that was it. We’ve been together ever since.’
