But when her dad, Colin, caught wind of his daughter’s tradition, he went to extra mile to ease Emily’s homesickness and now leaves her messages every time he leaves or returns to their family home in Whitehall, Pennsylvania.

Emily started collating her dad’s adorable daily updates and uploaded them in a compilation video to social media platform TikTok, which has since been viewed more than 3 million times and received 758,000 likes.
Throughout the 60 second clip, Colin is heard saying ‘Hi Em … bye Em,’ in a varying degree of outfits during different times of the day, often asking her ‘how are you’ and ‘can’t wait to see you. I love you.’
‘Sorry, haven’t been able to read your text yet – I was driving,’ he tells her in another clip.
Amid the myriad of heart-warming messages, Colin also provides a number of comedic moments.
‘If I had to bet I’d say you’re probably pre-gaming right about now,’ he jests to the camera.
In a separate exchange, a wryly smiling Colin leans into the frame and says: ‘Your mom is wrong again,’ as her mother Kathleen can be heard bursting into laughter in the background.
