Ray Martin is one of Australia’s most prolific and hard-hitting journalists.
And on Wednesday, the 75-year-old revealed his surprising new role as the host of a hilarious comedy lifestyle show on the ABC.
Titled ‘At Home Alone Together’, the former A Current Affair host joins a bunch of comedians sharing advice on how to live life to the fullest during the coronavirus pandemic.

Appearing on Today Extra on Wednesday, Ray jokingly described the skit show as like ‘Better Homes and Gardens gone wrong.’
‘It’s sort of Better Homes and Gardens gone wrong if you like, I’m Johanna [Griggs], I’m hosting it,’ he said.
‘The people involved with this show are about half my age. And they said, “look, we’ve got this comedy show… we just want you to host it and be yourself.”

He added: ‘I thought that’s not very funny, but here we are!’
A scene from the new show aired on Today Extra, shows Ray hilariously washing his hands in his pockets.
He jokes in the clip: ‘I’ll show you how to build them in your entire wardrobe, so you’ll know how to always be germ free!’
Ray told Today Extra host David Campbell that ‘in weird times, you do weird things.’

He began his successful career by working as a cadet for the ABC in 1965 and has since gone on to win five Gold Logie Awards.
At Home Alone Together airs on the ABC and iview on Wednesdays at 9pm.
