Academy Award winner Spike Lee has released the trailer for his latest film, Da 5 Bloods, starring Chadwick Boseman.

The two-and-a-half minute clip – set to the tune of Chamber Brothers 1967 hit Time Has Come Today – for the upcoming Netflix film featured plenty of footage as it is centered around the Vietnam War.

In it the 42-year-old Boseman portrays Norman, a soldier touted as the ‘best damn soldier that ever lived.’

The film is centered around his four fellow African American vets who return to VIetnam to seek his remains and the gold fortune he helped them hide. 

The foursome are Delroy Lindo as Paul, Norm Lewis as Eddie, Clarke Peters as Otis, and Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Melvin. 

They are also joined by Paul’s concerned son David played by Jonathan Majors.

The trailer begins with the four men being welcomed back to Vietnam as they are the ‘soul brothers of the 1st Infantry Divisions.’

They are even shown cutting a rug at the world famous Apocalypse Now Bar-Cafe in Hồ Chí Minh City. 

They then find an old photo of their fallen squad leader Norman as Melvin looks at it and says: ‘Brother man in all his glory.’

It then becomes very apparent that the group are there for more than just fun and reminiscing as they are there to retrieve a buried chest full of gold found by their fallen squadron leader.

After Norman  shoots the lock of the container open to make the treasured find he tells the group: ‘We bury it. Later on, we come back and collect.’

The film  written and directed by Spike Lee is his first project since winning the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for BlacKkKlansman in February 2019. 

It was his first win in 40 years of film-making.

Da 5 Bloods is set to begin streaming on Netflix on June 12.
