Three metropolitan police officers have been filmed as a passerby shouted at them for not wearing a mask while they arrested a boy with a ‘rambo knife’.

The officers were forced to battle back against concerned passersby while patting down a man who was carrying a knife outside Walthamstow Central Station in London.

In a video posted online today a woman shouted: Don’t talk to me like that. All I’ve said to you in where’s your mask. I didn’t say anything else. Put a mask on.’

The video showed a group of women standing near three police officers as they performed a search on a man outside the crowded bus station.

One woman said: ‘I’m just asking because we are quite concerned.’

A police officer asked the women to stay distanced from each other if they were worried about the virus.

As he held up the six-inch knife he said: ‘Thankyou for everyone’s concern but this is what he’s got in his possession. You’re worried about the virus, split up. Split up and walk away.’

One of the women said: ‘We don’t need to split up. You’re out of order.’

As a woman shouted ‘put a mask on’ the officer turned around and said: ‘Another find guys. He’s got cannabis.’

Another of the officers was clearly exasperated by the criticism.

‘That’s why he didn’t want to be searched. You’re worrying about a mask. He’s got a rambo knife. Do you not understand that,’ he said.

Another of the passersby questioned whether the man’s human rights were being considered.

An officer said: ‘He can wear a mask if he likes.’
