Meanwhile, her mother Sarah Ferguson shared a picture of hospital staff holding trays of brownies, writing: ‘Thank you so much for the cake and brownie donations to Northwick Park Hospital’.

The baker behind the brownies, Nisha Khurana, later took to Instagram to reveal the brief she had been given, focusing on ‘comfort’ when she baked for hospital staff.

She wrote: ‘Absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to contribute towards the generous donations to the NHS by Sarah, Duchess of York.

‘From the beginning comfort and convenience were the main focus for what I was going to produce. With that in mind, and a cup of tea in hand, I settled on individually baked slices of brownies, coffee and walnut cake, banana cake and lemon bread.’

She added:  ‘Made even sweeter by the donation going to the renal unit at the Northwick Park Hospital who have been instrumental in keeping many people alive and well, including my mum’.
