The Good Fight starring Christine Baranski will return for fifth season on CBS All Access after coronavirus crisis shut down production

Season 4 of the CBS All Access Show The Good Fight was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic that forced the shut down of Hollywood production.

And while the legal drama starring Christine Baranski will now conclude on May 28 with what had been planned as the seventh episode in a 10-episode season, fans won’t be left hanging.

CBS All Access announced Thursday that it has re-upped the show for a fifth season so that the current plotlines can continue to their conclusion.

In a statement to Deadline.com, Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming, CBS All Access, said: ‘The Good Fight remains one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed original series on CBS All Access, and we’ve seen a tremendous response from fans this season.’

‘We can’t wait for viewers to see the remainder of the season and are excited to bring subscribers even more of the timely, gripping storylines the Kings bring to life next in season five.’

The Good Fight is a spin-off of the long-running CBS show The Good Wife starring Julianna Marguiles.

It debuted in 2017 and picked up 18 months after the events of the final episode of The Good Wife that aired in 2015.

At the end of last month, series star Baranski had joined Meryl Streep and Audra McDonald to pay tribute to musical theater legend Stephen Sondheim via remote video. 

The famous trio sipped on cocktails and wine and lounged around in robes during a performance of Ladies Who Lunch from the musical Company. 

At the end of their number the ladies toasted to Sondheim, who is known for Broadway favorites like Into The Woods, Sweeney Todd, Follies and more.
