DJ Yasmin Evans rushed to hospital with TRENCH FOOT after being axed from Celebrity SAS

DJ Yasmin Evans was booted from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Monday night’s instalment.

And the Radio 1Xtra star has explained how she was rushed straight to hospital, having contracted trench foot – the condition known to plague the trenches of the First World War.

The illness is caused by prolonged exposure to damp, unsanitary, and cold conditions – with Yasmin and the likes of Anthea Turner and Katie Price taking on the brutal wilds of Scotland on the Channel 4 endurance series.

Yasmin, 29, told The Sun: ‘I ended up in hospital and couldn’t walk for four days. I looked down at my feet and I just thought, “This is not OK”. My toenails were almost hanging off.’

She elaborated further on Instagram Live following the show on Monday.

‘I really suffered from having two major infections in my feet,’ she explained. ‘Your socks are constantly wet. It’s a World War injury.

‘The boots are really hard. Basically my toenail was black and one of them was split in the middle and was constantly bleeding.’

Yasmin said she wouldn’t shy away from taking part in the show again, but that she’d ‘rip off’ her toenails first because ‘they’re going to fall out anyway’.

She added that her feet were now recovered, having competed in filming at the end of last year.

She captioned a montage of images from her time on the show: ‘HEAD HELD HIGH ALWAYS. Incredibly proud of myself, but unfortunately infections & trench foot got the better of me. I couldn’t survive the pain, I was broken.

Elsewhere on Monday night’s episode, Joey Essex moved viewers to tears as he emotionally discussed his mother’s suicide.

The former TOWIE star, 29, was pulled aside to be grilled by officers Jason Fox and Matthew Ollerton, and told the men that he was only able to say the word ‘mum’ in recent years, after losing his mum aged ten.

The reality star told the officers: ‘I believe I am tough inside. Growing up wasn’t easy.’ 

When they pressed him on why, he said: ‘I had to deal with a lot of s**t. My mum committed suicide when I was 10 which was difficult.

‘It hardened me up a little bit. I can’t explain it. It’s made me tougher inside.’

Joey then emotionally revealed: ‘I only sort of started being able to talk about it openly, saying the word mum three or four years ago.’

He continued: ‘I know my mum loved me. But it has given me trust issues. One day she was there one day she was gone.’

Elsewhere on the show, footballer John Fashanu was forced to hand in his arm band after great difficulty on a physical challenge at the beginning on the show.

Paralympian Lauren Steadman was paired with Joey in team work task and faced tension in the pairing.
