Prankster: Nova FM Ryan Fitzgerald is known for his love of a prank or two. And the 42-year-old certainly didn’t disappoint on Monday, when he appeared to get a ‘retweet’ from President Donald Trump

It later appeared as though it was retweeted by the American President to his 79 million followers, along with a personalised message that read: ‘Thank you, Ryan. Working Hard!’

However, it was later discovered to be a fake, Photoshopped after Trump replied to founder and co-Chairman of @TrumpStudents, Ryan Fournier.

The trick even appeared to trip up Nova’s newsreader Matt De Groot, who momentarily thought the retweet was genuine.

Meanwhile, Ryan recently opened up about his days on Big Brother after appearing on the show 16 years ago.

He told his listeners last week that producers worked quite literally around the clock to keep up with the show’s rapid turnaround.

Staffers were under so much pressure to produce a new episode every single day, they would sleep on site and work gruelling 20-hour shifts.

Ryan told co-host Michael Wipfli: ‘I’m not joking, there were executive producers who have to watch and get a storyline every 24 hours to show what’s going on.

‘They’d sit in front of screens for 20 hours a day, and only sleep for three or four.’

Producers would also throw in as many housemates as possible at the start of each season so they could ‘kick the idiots out’ early and maximise drama,’ Ryan added.

Nova has had to think on its feet after amid the coronavirus pandemic after Fitzy and Wippa were immediately tested for COVID-19 in March.

The pair interviewed entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, who confirmed positive for the virus. Speaking to Ten Daily, Ryan said it was a trying time.

‘Your heart skips a beat. You just instantly think of your family first and if there’s going to be an impact on them,’ he told the website.

Fitzy and his wife Belinda Irons share two children: sons Hewie, 10, and Lenny, 6.
