Pregnant Katy Perry laments not being able to drink

Katy Perry confessed she is missing drinking alcoholic beverages during her pregnancy.

The pregnant singer – who is expecting a baby girl with her fiancé Orlando Bloom, 43 – admitted she wished she could be sipping on a cocktail instead of a cup of tea.

The 35-year-old star made the comments while filming a Facebook Live video ahead of the latest episode of American Idol.

She told her fans: ‘I’m not complaining, but I can’t drink, because I’m pregnant. Some of you already have a cocktail getting ready or you have your favorite IPA.

‘Or your favorite rye whiskey or your favorite white wine or rosé or whatever your favorite drink is.

‘I mean, honestly, just Bud Light with a little lime, I’m very excited for the future when that can happen. Which will be years, probably.’  

Elsewhere during the chat, Katy admitted she probably wasn’t going to be able to have a baby shower due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

‘I know not everyone does a babymoon or a baby shower,’ the star explained. ‘But I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to do any of that.’ 

She continued: ‘I’m just taking it one day at a time. But I’ll be grateful. I mean, I’m grateful now, but there’s a lot going on.’

Aside from missing out on pregnancy traditions, Perry has also had to put her wedding plans with Orlando on hold as a result of the potentially deadly virus.

The couple – who got engaged on Valentine’s Day of last year – had planned to exchange vows in Japan, which Katy was ‘all set for with 150 guests,’ according to People.

During her Instagram Live, the Teenage Dream songstress revealed that although she is disappointed by the hiccups in her plans, she still reminds herself to be grateful. 

‘Some days, you know, you lose perspective,’ said Katy.

‘Like, I was showering, and I was like, “Gotta be grateful, gotta be grateful, no matter what you’re going through you gotta be grateful.” I know that there’s probably a lot of people going through a lot of intense things right now.’ 

For her live stream, the Grammy nominated singer concealed her blonde hair with a gold turban and added some glamour to her look with some statement earrings and false eyelashes.

She was joined briefly by her darling dog Nugget for the nearly 30-minute online chat.  

Since unveiling her pregnancy in March in her Never Worn White music video, Katy has been openly discussing her experience of being a first time mother-to-be. 

Perry made a virtual appearance on Live With Kelly And Ryan on Wednesday, where she revealed that her unborn daughter happened to ‘flip her off’ during an ultrasound earlier in the week.

‘I went to a doctor’s appointment yesterday and I had an ultrasound and she was moving around,’ she began.

‘I have a video of her giving me the middle finger and I was like: ‘This is my child.” 

Katy’s mini-me is due this summer and she has revealed she may name her after her late grandmother Ann Pearl. 

As for learning she would be having a daughter, Perry said: ‘I was wondering who was going to inherit all my absurd costumes!’ 

During last Sunday’s episode of American Idol, Perry told host Ryan Seacrest that dealing with ‘a pregnancy in a pandemic’ is something she ‘will never forget.’

‘I’m having cravings that I cannot necessarily fulfill if I want to, but, you know, I think there is a lot of things that I am grateful for these days,’ she concluded.
