The Voice Australia finally gets a premiere date after production was halted on the new season amid the COVID-19 pandemic

The Voice Australia finally has a 2020 air date.  

The Channel Nine singing competition will premiere on May 24, according to a report on TV Blackbox

The program will welcome two new hosts, with Darren McMullen and Renee Bargh stepping in to take over from Sonia Kruger, who will front the forthcoming revamped season of Big Brother on Channel Seven.

The winner will take home a recording contract with EMI Music and a handsome $100,000 in prize money. 

The announcement comes after filming of season nine was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Coaches Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland, and new host Renee Bargh, were all still overseas at the time.

The Playoff rounds were scheduled to be recorded in front of a studio audience at Bulldog Park in Sydney’s south west on March 26 and 27.  

A Nine spokesperson confirmed the news to Daily Mail Australia.

‘Filming of The Voice has been temporarily postponed in the wake of the coronavirus and new Government protocols,’ they said.
